Even though I usually go to church every Sunday with my family, most of the time, I don’t listen to the homily of the priest. For the reason that sometimes I am sleepy and I’m not in the mood to listen. But I’m really sorry for behaving that way. One Sunday morning, I attended the Sunday mass and I was really interested. The priest was really good and I enjoyed listening to his homily. The priest’s homily goes somewhat like this.
Usually, we feel empty because we have nothing to eat, drink, etc. Often, we feel empty if we don’t have wealth or money. In return, we really feel happy when we have all those things. But happiness by these material things is just temporary. Sooner or later, it will immediately fly away. So, only God can fill up the emptiness that we experience in our lives. Total happiness, peace and joy can be given by God only. As states in the beatitudes in the Bible, blessed are those who mourn, the peacemakers, the pure in hearts, etc. we are blessed because God is with us. The priest even said that if ever someone asked you “How are you?” answer I’m blessed, instead of I’m fine.
The priest also told a story of a clam. There came a time that a strong storm passed. The clam was covered with sand and its heart was bleeding. Then God said, just wait. The clam waited until it developed a beautiful pearl. The pearl was the prize for believing in God. The clam is just like people. Problems come to our lives and may hurt our heart. But if God will be the center of our hearts, family and mind, we will always be lucky and happy. That is the pearl; the prize. So, God should be the control of our life. We should live the Sunday Eucharist. Let us be together for Him.
