CHRISTMAS PARTY

The day of our Christmas Party was also my birthday, December 17. The program started and it was by year level. All junior students gathered in front of the Maliksi Building. Emman and Ciara were the emcees. There were lots of fun games like apple eating, bring me, and trip to Jerusalem with a twist. I joined Trip to Jerusalem and my partner was Sancho. We were very competitive. In fact, we were about to win but we cannot do what Trisha and Emman did. After that game, we were very tired. Good thing that it was already break time. There were lots of foods inside our room. There were baked macaroni, spaghetti, butse, hotdog and marshmallows, etc. The next game was “Bring me” and it was by section. Ma’am Mae asked lots of things like red undergarments, whole 1000 peso bill, picture of mother and father, etc. The last thing was the awarding.

After the year level Christmas party, Cyrielle, Rona, MC, Maryel, Trisha, Mikee, Sancho, Riguel, Jjay and I went to MC’s house. In MC’s house, we wore our costumes and fixed ourselves for the school-level Christmas/ costume party. MC, Cyrielle, Rona and I have the same costumes. We’re like Santa girls. We wore red shirts and skirts with long black socks/ stockings. Some were dressed like cowboys and cowgirls. When we’re all fixed, we already went back to school. The program was held at the basketball court. Each section was asked to model and show their costumes around the basketball court. Each section also performed like dancing, singing, etc.

At the end of the day, I was very happy and grateful. Many greeted me “Happy Birthday” and “Merry Christmas”. It was really one of the happiest Christmas parties I experienced. I enjoyed our year level Christmas party more but it was all okay. I received many gifts and I was really thankful to all of them.

ISANG PANAGINIP NA FILI

INFORMAL THEME #8
BLOG#8

It was my first time to go to the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. It was really, really big. There were lots people jogging and some are even playing soccer. Then, we arrived at the hall where we will watch the play “Isang Panaginip na Fili” and we waited for almost thirty minutes. When we went inside the auditorium, it was quite cold. I was really disappointed with the seating arrangement. I thought that we will sit beside each other but we were arranged vertically wherein Helen was in front of me and then Cyrielle, Maryel etc. were at my back. Then, we were only seating on monoblock chairs. We still waited for minutes inside the auditorium.

The play started with Simon singing very well. Simon was my favorite character because he was really good and professional. He even played two roles: as Simon, the new Crisostomo Ibarra and as Tonying, a friend of Rizal. All the other characters have a great skill in dancing, singing, and acting. Their voices can be heard in the whole theater. They pronounced their lines clearly. They portrayed their characters wholeheartedly. All of them memorized, studied and knew their lines very well.

The lighting effects were well done. The background of the stage was nice and was appropriate to all the scenes. They even used some props like swords etc. of the group of Kabesang Tales. All of the costumes and make-up of the characters were all suitable. Over all, I can say that the stage was well-planned by the director and his staff.

The entire play was excellent and realistic. All the disappointments were washed away because the play was really good. I hope that I can watch another play in Dulaang UP.

IBONG ADARNA

INFORMAL THEME #7
BLOG #7

The play “Ibong Adarna” that we watched in the provincial gymnasium was very amazing. The characters’ acting and dancing skills were very good especially Aaron Villaflor who played the role of Don Juan. I can hear their voices clearly except for the one who played as the faith healer.  Maybe, there is a problem in his microphone. They all know their lines. They even developed a connection with the audiences because the audiences react if they did something romantic etc. That is really a sign of an effective and good actor.

The stage was designed very well. The background changes whether the characters are on the castle or in the forest. The curtains are detachable. The props were very good like the stone props (Don Diego and Don Pedro). The one who played as Ibong Adarna was very good in dancing and its costume was appropriate for him. All the other characters have an appropriate and good costume. The shadow effects contributed in the beauty of the play. They can make monsters and serpents from shadows of different people. It is very amazing. The use of different instruments added in the beauty of the play. All actors and actresses were very good. I really enjoy the play.

THANK YOU, LORD

INFORMAL THEME #6
BLOG #6

Our loving God has kindly blessed us with our family and different kinds of blessings. However, some of us neglected and didn’t show any concern to Him. We should really thank Him for all the blessings with all our hearts. We should be really grateful for all the blessings He showered us. Let me show my deepest gratitude to our caring God.

First of all, thank you Lord, for giving me life. Because of Your will, I exist in this world; I was born. I read something in a book and said something like this. Long before we were conceived by our parents, we were visualized in the mind of God. He thought of us first. It is not fate, nor chance, nor luck, nor coincidence that we are breathing at this very moment.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me caring and wonderful parents. They took care of me since I was a child. They are always beside me to support me. They work hard so I can continue my studies. They give me advices that really helped me. They will always be here beside me through good and bad times.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me friends. Thank you for the times we spend laughing out loud. We even share our personal experiences with each other. We can trust them and share our secrets with them. They are there through thick and thin. They can forgive our mistakes and help attain our goals. I know that our friendship will get stronger as long as the Lord is beside us.

Thank you, Lord, for the food we have. I can still eat three meals a day. I am already contented on what simple foods I eat every day. Thank you, Lord, for giving me another new day. Some people don’t make through the night. I will continue my simple life with You beside me. Now, I feel very lucky and blessed. Thanks to You…

MY TURNING POINTS

INFORMAL THEME #5
                BLOG #5

In my life, I have major turning points. Entering Cavite National Science High School (CNSHS) and simply being a high school student are some. Sometimes things happening to you may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first. But as time passed by, you find that without overcoming those obstacles, you would have never realized your potential, strength, determination, and weaknesses. As my life started, I experienced a lot of problems, obstacles and turning points. So I promised to myself that I need to face all of that in order to survive.

Being in a new school is a part of the big changes that I have to face, especially if you’re studying in CNSHS. When I was still a freshman, I need to adjust to new school rules, environment, classmates and friends. All those class hours filled with happy memories and bonding moments because of the jokes and laughter each had shared.

Being a high school student is considered as turning points of our lives because in this stage; we find out whom we really are. Some say that we should cherish every moment we had in our school life because it is the best stage for me to grow, learn, and experience all the things we need to know about ourselves. Who would forget high school crushes, strict teachers, boring lessons, free time, cramming sessions, morning syndrome and everything?

These are my major turning points in my life. I have goals to accomplish and dreams to fulfill. All I can do to achieve this is to prepare for my future by doing my best at the present. I’m still young. I know that there will be more turning points. I know that I can face it all through the help of God.

DIVINE COMEDY'S IMPACT TO ME

INFORMAL THEME #4
BLOG #4

Dante's Divine Comedy, a great masterpiece, is a deep Christian vision of man's destiny to attain salvation of life. On its most personal level, it draws on Dante's own experience of exile from his native city of Florence; on its most comprehensive level, it may be read as an allegory, taking the form of a journey through hell, purgatory, and paradise. He influenced many people with his work through the emotional and political influences of his own life. He is amazing because he knows almost all of the concerns that affect a person’s life. The people that he sees in his journey are those from ancient history but some include his personal friends. The good thing about Divine Comedy is Dante’s scheme of punishment. The punishment gets worst as Dante travels to the lower circles of hell and it is the opposite of the sins made. One example is the futurologists; their punishment is forever walking backwards with head twisted 180 degrees. This shows that they will never see the future anymore. In Purgatorio, the punishments are lighter and it is the most human. While in Paradiso are the holy and good people wherein they don't have nay punishments.

The influence of Divine Comedy is really incalculable. Many people continue on reading and teaching it to others. Of course, I can say that this masterpiece is really relevant to my life. It somewhat made me think the purpose of my life and the ways to make it better. I am now responsive to my actions and mistakes I make. Because I remember the corresponding punishment for almost every sin that I make. I really don’t like to experience that like the one that you are ripped apart by Cerberus and immersed into a boiling river of blood. Maybe, I can lessen the sins I make through thinking those punishments. Furthermore, I can say that the version of Dante about the beginning of Hell, Purgatory and Heaven is wonderful. He said that Hell was created because of the impact of Satan’s fall from Heaven. The displaced amount of land became the Mount Purgatory in the Southern Hemisphere. He really has a wild imagination. He is very brilliant. That version of Dante made me wonder the true appearance of Purgatory and Heaven. I don’t know if it is really a mountain in the Southern Hemisphere but I believe it’s not. Reading Divine Comedy is a great thing for me.

GSP CAMP

Informal Theme #3
Blog #3

This year’s GSP Camp has a theme “Empowering Girls Make Difference”. From November 4 up to November 5, we stayed in school doing several Girl Scout activities. Early in the morning (November 4), the registration already started. I helped Maryel and Mrs. Arceo because there were lots of sponsors who need to register. After the registration, the Investiture/ Rededication started. The girl scouts uttered the oath and promise in unison and even did the break claps to entertain the guest speaker, Hon. Irene Bencito. She gave inspiring words that touched everyone’s heart.

We had fun games afterwards. The game “Animal Kingdom” was really funny because they were blindfolded and they find their group mates through sounds of animals. I and Eunice really laughed a lot because there was a freshman that keeps on finding her group mates and she was really far from them. I was the grub master among the GSP Staff so I went to the canteen with Jezza to get our lunch. We had lunch in the GSP Room with Ma’am Mae and Ma’am Juliet. After eating, we readied ourselves for the next activity which is the orienteering. Troops 1-7 raced and showed their skills in knot-tying, trail signs and different physical activities.

At night, we had the campfire and the spiritual night. A pastor showed us a presentation telling how awesome people are and also a part of the film “Passion of Christ”. Some really became emotional and cried. Ma’am Bisa also read some verses from the Bible. After that is the presentation of each troop. Some did jingle interpretative dance and a skit about the theme. We were the last to perform. I think I just slept for one and a half hour because we prepared the ribbons for the awarding the next day. I just can’t sleep that time. Early in the morning, we had exercise. Next, we had a session about cervical cancer. The last event was awarding. Of course! Before going home, we cleaned the GSP room and stayed there for a while. We were really thankful because the camp was successful. I went home very tired and happy that I experienced this wonderful camp.

SEMBREAK!

Yes! Finally it’s already sembreak. This just means that we’re already halfway through the school year. This is just a week or even couples of week that you can really have lots of fun. This time is a break from quizzes, seat works, recitations, and different tests from our teachers. This is such a good time for rest and relaxation in your house or in any place you like. Time to relax your mind and body, reduce the stress and recharge your batteries. You can do whatever you want. Whether you want a road trip, movie marathon, or simply cleaning your room. Who among us don’t want a sembreak? Of course, all of us want this. But how about you, don’t know yet what to do and how to spend your sembreak?
This sembreak, I’m not planning to go anywhere else because I just want to stay in our house. I’m not in the mood to go outside our house. I want to bond with my family, get lots of sleep and have a movie marathon. I think having movie marathon is a cheap way to bond with my family. You can watch the full season of your favorite TV show or watch some movies on DVD. Of course, while watching these movies, have some snacks and eat, eat, eat. Also, I’ll sleep and sleep for my mind and body to take a break. Rest from all the stress, worries, home works and many more. Well, sleeping is the simplest and easiest form of exercise and relaxation.
Well, aside from watching movies, I want to get rid of clutter in our room. I’ll remove some old school works and paper works in our storage containers. I will check my drawers and closets for small clothes and items that I can give to my younger cousins in our province, Rizal. I’ll separate it from those that I can still use. Of course, I’ll do my projects and home works given by our teachers. I’ll finish all of that first before doing the things I mentioned above. Also, this sembreak, I think our relatives from my father’s side will go to our house because we’ll go to the cemetery this November 1. We’ll visit my grandfather’s tomb and pray for his soul. This sembreak will really be a great time. I love sembreak…

MY SISTER'S KEEPER

This is a story of a fearless family surrounded with undying love for each other. At the beginning, the parents had a daughter named Kate which unfortunately has leukemia. They asked the doctor what possible ways they can do for her to survive because no one in their family and relatives is compatible to her. The doctor told them one possible way but it is somewhat not allowed by the law. But they still insisted, they made a test-tube baby girl named Anna that will match all the genes and can be called a donor baby. They can use her to provide all the necessary things for Kate’s body. Even if Anna is still 5 years old, she grew experiencing surgeries for bone marrow aspiration, lymphocytes and many more needed for Kate, her sister. She was her sister’s keeper.

Time passed by and Anna grew older. One day, Kate requires a kidney to survive so her mother told Anna that she will donate one of her kidney for her sister. She was 11 years old that time and she already makes her own decisions. One day, she went to a law firm and asked for help because she really wants to be free of medical surgeries that started when she was still young. She wanted to have the right of controlling her body. The attorney accepted it because he knew the feeling of not controlling your own body; he was epileptic. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t want to help her sister survive her cancer. She really loves her sister and Kate even shares her love stories to her. They were really close with each other and they call each other sissy. But one day, Kate told her that she already wanted to die. She told Anna that it is okay for her if she will not donate something to her. Kate was really thankful for all that Anna gave. When it was Kate’s birthday, they are having a small gathering. In the end, Kate died but the family still continued their life.

This is such a great movie. I just watched this a few days ago and it really touched my heart. Well, I was about to cry but I didn’t. It is not about having medical emancipation or Anna winning the case. The point is Anna having a sister. A sister that will love and care for her forever, even if she already stays in heaven. For me, I’m really thankful that I have three sisters that assist me in my difficulties. They aid me emotionally and spiritually. I grow and learn with them. I have great experiences with them beside me. They teach me lifetime lessons and I know will be in my mind and soul forever. Thanks God for giving me such wonderful sisters.

IN YOUR LOVING HANDS

INFORMAL THEME #8

BLOG #8

You gave a meaningful life to me

That I share with my friends and family

You let me experience things with joy

Even if sometimes I am coy

You sacrificed your life for us

We should glorify You, it’s a must

I’ll give you love that will forever last

I’ll do my purpose but not that fast

Jesus, thank you for your undying love

What a great and wonderful friend I have

Because You’re there in times that I sob

You’re so glorious in the heavens above

Thanks for helping me overcome temptations

Please help me control my wrong motions

I’m so sorry for giving you not much attention

Now, being in your loving hands, it is my passion

RUN FOR A CHANGE

God provided the Philippines with different natural resources and lots of wonders that we should be proud of. All we have to do is take care of it. But nowadays, our environment really suffers. Almost all of us, Filipinos, throw our garbage anywhere and everywhere we want. Whether they are plastics, candy wrappers, plastic bottles, banana peelings or anything, it is our entire fault. So, what can we do to help in keeping our environment clean? It can be in any simple way we want.

The Pasig River was an important means of transportation. But with industrialization and urbanization, the river lost its beauty. Now, the biggest race in the country, Run for Pasig River, that will be held this Sunday (October 10, 2010)wants to keep our Pasig River clean. It also aims to have 120,000 registered runners to beat the Guinness World Record held by a race in San Francisco, United States. This project may have participants from various parts of the society, like students, government officials and employees, actors and actresses, and other concerned individuals.

In fact, my sister who is studying at Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) will join this big event. She and her classmates are required by their professors but they really want to help Pasig River. I really wish that I could join that race. I want to help raise funds to restore the beauty of the Pasig River. It is every Filipino’s responsibility to keep it clean and alive. This run for a change is only a part of our commitment to the environment.

LIVING WITH PURPOSE

All of us here need to live with a purpose, simply because it gives meaning and simplifies our life. Having a meaningful life may lead to hope and success that you could really treasure up to eternity. Also, having hope is having a purpose. Because if you are hopeless, you can’t do your purpose and you really will not survive the temptations of life. Knowing your purpose can simply help you know what to do and what not to do. You can decide well and use your time well. Sometimes people don’t know yet their purpose in life so they might do much or do less. But I think that this is bad because maybe it can cause stress, depression and many more problems.
Without a clear purpose, you can’t concentrate your efforts and you will keep changing your directions. You become more successful when you focus you life to something. Thus, you should do only what matters most. You shouldn’t do all but try your very best. When I was still a child, I really don’t know what my purpose is and I don’t know where  am I headed to. But as time passes by with the wonderful experiences that I’ve been through for almost 14 years of my life, I’m starting to know my purpose. I should study hard to have a good job and of course, I want to focus my life with God. Even though, I experienced fear, peer pressure, stress and other stuffs like that, I know that I’ll be alright because God is beside me.

" MY TEACHER, MY HERO"

Teachers in the globe are really industrious
even if they are not that well-known or famous
They teach us English, Science, and other subjects
They give us lots of quizzes, homeworks,  and projects

Teachers serve as our second parents in our school
Some are strict and serious, but some are kind and cool
They provide us inspirational advices
They even share their personal experiences

I admire them for their achievements and nature
I really thank them for making us more mature
I'm giving gratitude for sharing their knowledge
I know that this can help for my studies in college

For me, you are really a hero, my teacher
Even if you don't have strength and superpower
You serve as my leader, my mother and my friend
Teacher, I will not forget you up to the end

HOW DO I LOVE THEE?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

At first, Elizabeth Browning states how many ways she loves. But the number of ways she loves is really numerous. She loves Robert from every dimension of her whole being and up to where her soul can reach. Her love is on the same level of our everyday’s basic needs like food, shelter and water. She loves freely like mankind striving for justice and fairness. She loves him with the enthusiasm or desires she used from her old sufferings when she was a child. The love for him is her reason to live, to be happy, and to survive. She even said that death makes her love him better. She was willing to give her life to God and promised that her love to Robert will stay eternally.
The poem “How Do I Love Thee?” of Elizabeth Barrett Browning was very romantic and heartfelt. The theme was the intense love for her husband who is Robert Browning. The poem was not that simple but it really expressed LOVE.
