CHRISTMAS PARTY

The day of our Christmas Party was also my birthday, December 17. The program started and it was by year level. All junior students gathered in front of the Maliksi Building. Emman and Ciara were the emcees. There were lots of fun games like apple eating, bring me, and trip to Jerusalem with a twist. I joined Trip to Jerusalem and my partner was Sancho. We were very competitive. In fact, we were about to win but we cannot do what Trisha and Emman did. After that game, we were very tired. Good thing that it was already break time. There were lots of foods inside our room. There were baked macaroni, spaghetti, butse, hotdog and marshmallows, etc. The next game was “Bring me” and it was by section. Ma’am Mae asked lots of things like red undergarments, whole 1000 peso bill, picture of mother and father, etc. The last thing was the awarding.

After the year level Christmas party, Cyrielle, Rona, MC, Maryel, Trisha, Mikee, Sancho, Riguel, Jjay and I went to MC’s house. In MC’s house, we wore our costumes and fixed ourselves for the school-level Christmas/ costume party. MC, Cyrielle, Rona and I have the same costumes. We’re like Santa girls. We wore red shirts and skirts with long black socks/ stockings. Some were dressed like cowboys and cowgirls. When we’re all fixed, we already went back to school. The program was held at the basketball court. Each section was asked to model and show their costumes around the basketball court. Each section also performed like dancing, singing, etc.

At the end of the day, I was very happy and grateful. Many greeted me “Happy Birthday” and “Merry Christmas”. It was really one of the happiest Christmas parties I experienced. I enjoyed our year level Christmas party more but it was all okay. I received many gifts and I was really thankful to all of them.

ISANG PANAGINIP NA FILI

INFORMAL THEME #8
BLOG#8

It was my first time to go to the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. It was really, really big. There were lots people jogging and some are even playing soccer. Then, we arrived at the hall where we will watch the play “Isang Panaginip na Fili” and we waited for almost thirty minutes. When we went inside the auditorium, it was quite cold. I was really disappointed with the seating arrangement. I thought that we will sit beside each other but we were arranged vertically wherein Helen was in front of me and then Cyrielle, Maryel etc. were at my back. Then, we were only seating on monoblock chairs. We still waited for minutes inside the auditorium.

The play started with Simon singing very well. Simon was my favorite character because he was really good and professional. He even played two roles: as Simon, the new Crisostomo Ibarra and as Tonying, a friend of Rizal. All the other characters have a great skill in dancing, singing, and acting. Their voices can be heard in the whole theater. They pronounced their lines clearly. They portrayed their characters wholeheartedly. All of them memorized, studied and knew their lines very well.

The lighting effects were well done. The background of the stage was nice and was appropriate to all the scenes. They even used some props like swords etc. of the group of Kabesang Tales. All of the costumes and make-up of the characters were all suitable. Over all, I can say that the stage was well-planned by the director and his staff.

The entire play was excellent and realistic. All the disappointments were washed away because the play was really good. I hope that I can watch another play in Dulaang UP.

IBONG ADARNA

INFORMAL THEME #7
BLOG #7

The play “Ibong Adarna” that we watched in the provincial gymnasium was very amazing. The characters’ acting and dancing skills were very good especially Aaron Villaflor who played the role of Don Juan. I can hear their voices clearly except for the one who played as the faith healer.  Maybe, there is a problem in his microphone. They all know their lines. They even developed a connection with the audiences because the audiences react if they did something romantic etc. That is really a sign of an effective and good actor.

The stage was designed very well. The background changes whether the characters are on the castle or in the forest. The curtains are detachable. The props were very good like the stone props (Don Diego and Don Pedro). The one who played as Ibong Adarna was very good in dancing and its costume was appropriate for him. All the other characters have an appropriate and good costume. The shadow effects contributed in the beauty of the play. They can make monsters and serpents from shadows of different people. It is very amazing. The use of different instruments added in the beauty of the play. All actors and actresses were very good. I really enjoy the play.

THANK YOU, LORD

INFORMAL THEME #6
BLOG #6

Our loving God has kindly blessed us with our family and different kinds of blessings. However, some of us neglected and didn’t show any concern to Him. We should really thank Him for all the blessings with all our hearts. We should be really grateful for all the blessings He showered us. Let me show my deepest gratitude to our caring God.

First of all, thank you Lord, for giving me life. Because of Your will, I exist in this world; I was born. I read something in a book and said something like this. Long before we were conceived by our parents, we were visualized in the mind of God. He thought of us first. It is not fate, nor chance, nor luck, nor coincidence that we are breathing at this very moment.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me caring and wonderful parents. They took care of me since I was a child. They are always beside me to support me. They work hard so I can continue my studies. They give me advices that really helped me. They will always be here beside me through good and bad times.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me friends. Thank you for the times we spend laughing out loud. We even share our personal experiences with each other. We can trust them and share our secrets with them. They are there through thick and thin. They can forgive our mistakes and help attain our goals. I know that our friendship will get stronger as long as the Lord is beside us.

Thank you, Lord, for the food we have. I can still eat three meals a day. I am already contented on what simple foods I eat every day. Thank you, Lord, for giving me another new day. Some people don’t make through the night. I will continue my simple life with You beside me. Now, I feel very lucky and blessed. Thanks to You…

MY TURNING POINTS

INFORMAL THEME #5
                BLOG #5

In my life, I have major turning points. Entering Cavite National Science High School (CNSHS) and simply being a high school student are some. Sometimes things happening to you may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first. But as time passed by, you find that without overcoming those obstacles, you would have never realized your potential, strength, determination, and weaknesses. As my life started, I experienced a lot of problems, obstacles and turning points. So I promised to myself that I need to face all of that in order to survive.

Being in a new school is a part of the big changes that I have to face, especially if you’re studying in CNSHS. When I was still a freshman, I need to adjust to new school rules, environment, classmates and friends. All those class hours filled with happy memories and bonding moments because of the jokes and laughter each had shared.

Being a high school student is considered as turning points of our lives because in this stage; we find out whom we really are. Some say that we should cherish every moment we had in our school life because it is the best stage for me to grow, learn, and experience all the things we need to know about ourselves. Who would forget high school crushes, strict teachers, boring lessons, free time, cramming sessions, morning syndrome and everything?

These are my major turning points in my life. I have goals to accomplish and dreams to fulfill. All I can do to achieve this is to prepare for my future by doing my best at the present. I’m still young. I know that there will be more turning points. I know that I can face it all through the help of God.

DIVINE COMEDY'S IMPACT TO ME

INFORMAL THEME #4
BLOG #4

Dante's Divine Comedy, a great masterpiece, is a deep Christian vision of man's destiny to attain salvation of life. On its most personal level, it draws on Dante's own experience of exile from his native city of Florence; on its most comprehensive level, it may be read as an allegory, taking the form of a journey through hell, purgatory, and paradise. He influenced many people with his work through the emotional and political influences of his own life. He is amazing because he knows almost all of the concerns that affect a person’s life. The people that he sees in his journey are those from ancient history but some include his personal friends. The good thing about Divine Comedy is Dante’s scheme of punishment. The punishment gets worst as Dante travels to the lower circles of hell and it is the opposite of the sins made. One example is the futurologists; their punishment is forever walking backwards with head twisted 180 degrees. This shows that they will never see the future anymore. In Purgatorio, the punishments are lighter and it is the most human. While in Paradiso are the holy and good people wherein they don't have nay punishments.

The influence of Divine Comedy is really incalculable. Many people continue on reading and teaching it to others. Of course, I can say that this masterpiece is really relevant to my life. It somewhat made me think the purpose of my life and the ways to make it better. I am now responsive to my actions and mistakes I make. Because I remember the corresponding punishment for almost every sin that I make. I really don’t like to experience that like the one that you are ripped apart by Cerberus and immersed into a boiling river of blood. Maybe, I can lessen the sins I make through thinking those punishments. Furthermore, I can say that the version of Dante about the beginning of Hell, Purgatory and Heaven is wonderful. He said that Hell was created because of the impact of Satan’s fall from Heaven. The displaced amount of land became the Mount Purgatory in the Southern Hemisphere. He really has a wild imagination. He is very brilliant. That version of Dante made me wonder the true appearance of Purgatory and Heaven. I don’t know if it is really a mountain in the Southern Hemisphere but I believe it’s not. Reading Divine Comedy is a great thing for me.

GSP CAMP

Informal Theme #3
Blog #3

This year’s GSP Camp has a theme “Empowering Girls Make Difference”. From November 4 up to November 5, we stayed in school doing several Girl Scout activities. Early in the morning (November 4), the registration already started. I helped Maryel and Mrs. Arceo because there were lots of sponsors who need to register. After the registration, the Investiture/ Rededication started. The girl scouts uttered the oath and promise in unison and even did the break claps to entertain the guest speaker, Hon. Irene Bencito. She gave inspiring words that touched everyone’s heart.

We had fun games afterwards. The game “Animal Kingdom” was really funny because they were blindfolded and they find their group mates through sounds of animals. I and Eunice really laughed a lot because there was a freshman that keeps on finding her group mates and she was really far from them. I was the grub master among the GSP Staff so I went to the canteen with Jezza to get our lunch. We had lunch in the GSP Room with Ma’am Mae and Ma’am Juliet. After eating, we readied ourselves for the next activity which is the orienteering. Troops 1-7 raced and showed their skills in knot-tying, trail signs and different physical activities.

At night, we had the campfire and the spiritual night. A pastor showed us a presentation telling how awesome people are and also a part of the film “Passion of Christ”. Some really became emotional and cried. Ma’am Bisa also read some verses from the Bible. After that is the presentation of each troop. Some did jingle interpretative dance and a skit about the theme. We were the last to perform. I think I just slept for one and a half hour because we prepared the ribbons for the awarding the next day. I just can’t sleep that time. Early in the morning, we had exercise. Next, we had a session about cervical cancer. The last event was awarding. Of course! Before going home, we cleaned the GSP room and stayed there for a while. We were really thankful because the camp was successful. I went home very tired and happy that I experienced this wonderful camp.
